Thanks again for all your hard work.  There were a number of very interesting discussions that the work inspired during and after the review.  The critics all seemed to be impressed by the range of ideas presented and were complimentary of your ability to deal with a complex problem.

In terms of final documentation, the following is due by this Monday 12.07.09 at the exit interview.  Grades will not be given out without the completion of these items:

1. Please read the attached infolio information and finish your infolio pages + DVD documentation.
2. Please take photos of your models.
3. Please upload jpegs of your final boards and important model images to your blog pages.  Take care to clean up  and design your blog pages.  Please export your boards through illustrator by going to “file/save for web and devices” or watch this short video if needed: posting to the blog
4. Please upload you animations to youtube (if you have them) and embed your animations in your blog page.

The exit interviews will happen on the balcony at Charlie’s this Monday 12.07.09 from 1:15-6:15 in the following order (each student will get between 10-20 minutes):

• We will be pinning up on the bridge on the north half of the bridge Monday.
• The review will go from 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm.
• We will pin-up in two groups.  The morning group must be pinned up by 8am Monday morning (see pin-up diagram)
• All students need to be present and ready to watch the review by 8:45 am.
• The presentation order will be:  1. Sal, 2. Lindsay, 3. Ashley, 4.Ed , 5.Will, BREAK, 6.Khalid, 7.Miguel, 8.Kate, 9.Justin, 10.Tyler, 11.Heather, 12.Christine – *Note the first person of the day (Sal) will need to introduce a bit about the site and the program.
• Each student will have 35 minutes.  5-10 minutes for the oral presentation and 25 minutes for reviewer comments.
• Please start your presentation by stating the thesis of your project (the big ideas of your project). Try to be specific yet succinct.  Use the thesis paragraphs you have already written and adapt them for the oral presentation.

Agenda for Wednesday 12.2.09:

• We will briefly meet in studio at 1:15pm on Wednesday and go over final documentation instructions for the semester.

• I will be in studio and will be available for any questions.

• Since the shop will be closed for a portion of the thanksgiving break, I will take into consideration that some of you may have begun working on the models the last few days and may not have completed your boards and animation by today.

Agenda:

• 1:15-1:30pm We will all meet briefly for the first 15-20 minutes to do course evaluations.
• 1:30-6:15pm I will meet briefly with students to view progress on the boards and the animation.   Please create a sign-up sheet.

• I will meet first with the students I was not able to meet with on Monday: Ashley; Lindsay; Ed; Heather.
• Create a sign-up sheet for any additional meetings.
• It looks like we will be in the bridge for the final review.

• Design must be finalized by tomorrow 11.16.09 and each student must begin laying out their final boards.

• Each of you should begin by first laying out your boards and planning exactly what things will go where and what exactly you will need in the way of renderings, diagrams, etc..  Once you have a layout plan, then proceed to finish each of the listed items one by one.  The boards and the animation will take you 7 days of work.  The next 7 days will need to be spent building the models and this should be slightly easier than the first 7 days, because once you have your drawings and renderings you know exactly what your design is and building the models can be more of a plug-n-chug exercise.

• To recap, spend the first 7 days doing your boards/animation and the second 7 days doing the models.

Agenda:

• I will meet with each student individually for 20 minutes to review their finalized designs.  The Order will be: Miguel; Kate; Sal; Khalid; Tyler; Christine; Ashley; Justin; Will; Lindsay; Ed; Heather.
• While your waiting to talk with me, please begin laying out your boards.

• I just want to emphasize how crucial it is that substantial progress be made on two fronts by tomorrow (Monday Nov 8th):  1. The site plan needs to have evolved significantly and should be finalized by tomorrow (Monday Nov 8th); 2. Everyone should have been spending 50% of their time this last week focusing on detail + material design of their structures – so you should have progress to show on this front.

• This week we need to focus on detail, material, and structural design.

• I will be talking with each student this week in person, by phone, and through email helping each student to develop a parametric model of some aspect of their project.

• We have 7 days of design left, and on Monday Nov 16^th (7 days from now) design will have to stop and be finalized so that the final two weeks can be used for final production work.  It will take you two weeks to produce graduate level final production work, so designs need to be finalized by Nov 16^th. Therefore we will have an in studio deadline to finalize all design work by Nov 16^th.

• I will give critiques on Wednesday (Veteran’s Day) and if you would like input feel free to come to studio.  This is on a voluntary basis.
• Final review requirements will be emailed by Wednesday.

Agenda for Monday:

• I will meet with each student individually and review individual progress on the stated fronts above.  The order will be: 1. Ed; 2. Khalid; 3. Lindsay; 4. Sal; 5. open slot; 6. open slot; etc..

• We will be focusing on wrapping up site design this week, doing some detail design at the same time, and developing each student’s parametric model.  This will be done in studio, but also through email between me and each student.
